The Hurst Community College
Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Information Report
Provision at The Hurst Community College.
What type of educational setting is The Hurst Community College?
The Hurst Community College is a mainstream setting for 11 – 16 year olds. We are an inclusive school where a range of special educational needs and disabilities are catered for. We also liaise closely with the local primary schools and colleges to support pupils during times of change, whether they are joining or leaving us.
How does the school know if children/young people need extra help?
Should The Hurst need to close due to exceptionally bad weather or for safety reasons, we will advise all parents by placing notification on our website, www.hurstcollege.co.uk (www.hurst.hants.sch.uk) and informing the following before 7am on the specific day.
- Heart FM (102.9fm)
- Kestrel (Breeze) FM (107.6fm)
- BBC Berkshire (104.1fm)
- Hampshire County Council (http://www.hants.gov.uk/education/schoolclosures/)
- via our Twitter account: @theheadteacher
Should we have major problems during a school day we would inform parents by phone and via our website (pupils would never be asked to do this on our behalf for obvious health and safety, and "prank" reasons).
