Key Stage 3 - Art (Year 8)

The title for Year 8 projects is 'Big and Bold'. Throughout Year 8 pupils develop their art skills and knowledge of other artists in the following projects:

Fine Art: 'Funky shoes' (tonal drawing, painting skills and colour theory)

Textiles: 'Under the Sea Weave' (relief scupture and textiles weave responding to the work of Jason Scarpace)

3D Sculpture: 'Green Man Soap Carving'

3D/Sculpture: 'A Giants Lunch' (Pop Art study and sculptural outcome)

Key Stage 4 - Art Specialisms

At Key Stage 4 we offer Art options in four specialisms. The exam board for all four is EdExcel.

Assessment

60% coursework - made up of a personal portfolio. This portfolio will include evidence of artist studies, experimenting with materials and processes, recording ideas and creating personal responses to themes set by the teacher.

40% exam - includes 8 to 10 weeks of reasearch and development, followed by a 10 hour practical exam. You are expected to be prepared for the exam and enjoy spending two wholes days working on your own art.
